Wedding Photography

Wedding at Gloria Ferrer Winery in Sonoma

I love photographing weddings.
They are exhilarating and challenging, and since I love taking pictures of people, nothing can match the fun of having 30 to 300 people to photograph. This joy in photography goes back many years: My first love was studio portraiture. I opened my portrait business in 1976, and expanded to include weddings in 1978. My interest in portraiture is evident in my current wedding work, where the emphasis is on faces, lighting, expressions and emotions in photo journalism as well as in formal photographs.

My studio is 100% digital.
Digital Photography requires more careful technique to produce images that surpass film. Because digital cameras capture more realistic colors, the photographer must control lighting color, contrast and quality in order to get superb quality. I have totally changed the way I light in the studio and at weddings in order to produce photographic (not inkjet) prints that match film quality.
The story of digital doesn't end there. Because of the instant feedback of digital, as soon as I know I have captured the required image(s), I can change pose, lighting, and camera angle to see if I can get an edgier or more romantic image. The display on the back of the camera tells me what needs to be changed to make that experimental picture work.
Digital gets even better: All large album images are retouched to remove skin blemishes, exit signs, and so on. Combining improved technique with newly available retouching makes for pictures better than I was producing with film!

I understand that a wedding is not a photo shoot,
and that I have to balance the need for unobtrusive photography with the need to get the photos from the couple's "wish list" of pictures. Somehow, I seem to have the knack of going unseen as I take my candids. And I am easygoing and patient when I take the formals.

Eliot Khuner photography is a one person operation.
I do not sub-contract other photographers to cover weddings. All your contact with my studio, from your initial visit through your pickup of your final album, will be with me personally. That way, I am always clear on your needs and how to take care of them. That also means that we know as I am photographing your wedding that I am visualizing your final album. As I work with you on your wedding day we are, in fact, composing your wedding album to match what you have told me you are looking for. The Magazine Album design allows me to design the perfect album for you.

My clients get both color and black & white pictures.
I capture all images in color, but I also make black and white or sepia proof images so that you can see your wedding memories both ways. When I design the album, we decide which images will stay color, which will be b/w, and, my favorite, which will be sepia.

Your final album will be a custom bound Leather Craftsmen album.
All album color prints will be brand new, cropped, and color-corrected. I keep all files for two years. The high-resolution files, without retouching, can be purchased at any time before the two years are up.
