if you have seen my work. I am honored when families choose me to be the eyes
through which they will see this special day forever. And, I enjoy the challenge of working
with families and siblings and
grandparents. It's really a thrill to make flattering, honest portraits of couples and family
groups. I still cry when I see all three generations are dancing in the same circle to Hava
Nagila or Klezmer music.
I work with a 2 1/4 square camera.
The large image on the film produces pictures with astounding clarity and color
saturation. The enlargements usually look sharper than the proofs! Even if you crop close
on a small part of the picture, the
enlargements are still fabulous.
Outdoors I avoid using on-camera flash, as this lighting flattens texture and folds in the
material. And, on-camera flash makes faces look unnatural. Indoors I use multiple lights,
keeping the look natural and flattering.
I understand that a Religious Ceremony
and a reception are not photo shoots, and that I have to balance the need for
unobtrusive photography with the need to get the photos from the family's "wish list" of
pictures. Somehow, I seem to have the knack
of going unseen as I take my candids. And I am easygoing and patient when I take the
formals.
Eliot Khuner photography is a one person operation.
I do not sub-contract other photographers to cover weddings. All your contact
with my studio, from your initial visit through your pickup of your final album, will be
with me personally. That way, I am always clear
on your needs and how to take care of them. That also means that we know as I am
photographing your Bar or Bat Mitzvah that I am visualizing your final album. As I work
with you on your family's special day we are,
in fact, composing your album, and also making all the pictures your parents will be
thrilled to get.
My clients get both color and black & white pictures.
I have two film holders (or magazines, as they are called in the business) one with
color, the other with black and white. I can switch between the two of them very easily,
taking a few shots with each. Thus,
selected poses will be available in black and white or color.
Your final album will be a Art Leather or Leather Craftsmen, two of the finest
albums in the country.
All album color prints will be brand new, cropped, color-corrected and lacquered. I
keep all negative for two years, so if you contact me on your child's fifteenth birthday the
negatives will be available. Customers
who have placed large reprint orders will get their negatives free or at a very low cost.
My Bar and Bat Mitzvah services include
a half-price or free portrait session in color or black & white a few months before the
big day. This gives us a chance to get more acquainted, and builds the rapport on the day
of the Mitzvah.
