Wedding at Willow Heights, Morgan Hill near San JoseKhanni and ChrisIs this merely a simple portrait of the bride and groom? It actually takes a lot of skill to produce a pleasing portrait. The classic alignment in a portrait of two people is to have the height difference adjusted so that the eyes of the lower person line up with the mouth of the higher person. Add to this the pleasing tilts of the heads, and always a genuine expression, and the result is a seemingly simple portrait. Careful posing, attention to lighting and background, combined with real emotions produce a beautiful portrait. I must thank one of my instructors, Monte Zucker, for teaching me the principles of classic portraiture and their application to wedding photography. He has trained generations of photographers how to produce timeless images. I am grateful to him for his endlessly good cheer as well as his dedication to the highest artistic standards. |
